error message with texts

I have a samsung replenish. I keep getting a red apostrophe mark when I send texts. Not sure why or how to fix it.
 
Do you mean an exclamation? That tells you that the text failed to transmit. You can try rebooting, using an alternate texting app like handcent or Go SMS, making sure you have good cell connectivity, contacting your carrier, and doing a factory reset on the phone.

As a workaround you could use an alternate texting service like Google Voice, which has its own app as well as working with Talkatone, Groove IP, and other apps.
