Error retrieving information from server?

Hi,I am using a T-mobile Comet cell phone running on android. Lately, every time when I try to download anything from internet or google play store (applications), it just can't download and give me this error message, "Error retrieving information from server." I have called T mobile six times already and still can't have it resolved. All right, let's do this one by one. First, I need to be able to download app from google play store and install it NOW. Can I do it like in PC? Download the app from PC, use USB cord to transfer it to the phone, and install it? Where do I store the apk file and how do I install it? Thanks.

You need to find this .apk file and download to your computer.

Connect your phone to your computer thru USB. (Hopefully the driver will find it).

Go to your computer to see your phone device connected. Drop the file into a folder. I drop mine in "Download" folder.

Install a file browser like "ES File Explorer" on your phone. Find that .apk file and install it.
