ES File Explorer continues to get called out for its privacy issues

I just reverted back to version 3.2.5.5. I like the UI better than the most current version.

Does anybody know if this older version has the privacy issue? What are the version no. That have privacy issues?

NoRoot Firewall can be configured to prevent ESFE (or any other app) from accessing the web...
Keep in mind while any firewall app gives you granular control over WiFi and cellular connectivity, that also kills any file sharing capability on your LAN or out to any Internet storage services. A firewall app only applies to the phone it's installed on, as opposed to a firewall tied in with your router which protects everything inside your home network. Of course if you use ES only for its file manager features on your phone that's not an issue but most third-party file manager apps do have a lot of file sharing/networking/cloud features.

Personally when ES started folding in user interface changes I just found it a little annoying but after the privacy policies were changed I eventually switched to Root Explorer.

It does require a rooted phone so for non-rooted devices take a look at File Expert if you want to change from ES

(As an aside, note that No Root Firewall hasn't been updated in a couple of years. For non-rooted users I'd recommend NetGuard, it has lots of current features and is actively supported.)
