ES File Explorer/LAN/Network Type/Transfer Speeds

Sup guys? Just wanted to share a few screen shots. It's me transferring large movie files from my PC to my S3's external SD (G.Skill 64GB). PC is connected to a D-Link dir-628 router (via Ethernet) that does 2.4ghz or 5ghz. It's named camera because it's for my wireless home security. 5 wireless cameras/repeaters streaming through 24/7. I stopped the streaming for the test.
Two pictures are 2.4ghz 802.11n only and two are 5ghz a/n auto.
All are from the exact same location (7 feet away).
I'm wondering if anyone else transfers files via LAN instead of via USB and if so, what speeds are you getting? I'm actually always on 2.4ghz for range and cameras are 2.4ghz only. 5ghz does not have good range.

Nice. I don't know why I only get what I do on 2.4ghz n and actually a little more on 5ghz, as 2.4ghz n should be more than enough. Thanks for sharing, though. Looks like you get better speeds on 2.4ghz g than I do on 2.4ghz n.

Could be interference ... do you have a lot of neighbors or 2.4 ghz devices like cordless phones that could be throwing out a lot of rf noise?

This article does a really good job detailing WiFi connectivity. It explains how a typical Ethernet cable connection is full duplex (where data is received and transmitted simultaneously) while WiFi is always half-duplex (where it's an either/or matter), along with the inherent factors that hamper WiFi signal strength that don't affect a wired connection. That's more relevant to the connecting a PC via cable or WiFi argument but still important in noting the limitations of any WiFi connection with our phones.

I have no neighbors but have 2x 2.4 ghz cordless phones in my house. None within 20 feet but I know their range is very good. I'll have to experiment with that. I'll check that article out when I get home, svim.
