ES File Explorer/Manager Pro

I have ES File Explorer/Manager Pro installed for test purposes only. It is too dangerous for indiscriminate use.

The jury is still out on this one ...

To support another user here I loaded it and tried investigating what I could see on my network. Very little. I stopped and made sure it was closed.

Sometime later I realized that apps were no longer recognizing my SD card. As an example Solid Explorer simply didn't list it.

I was assuming some disastrous hardware problem.

I did a Wipe Cache Partition and now my SD card is recognized.

Like I sais ... I can't prove it ... I am just bringing it to your attention.

I have had that installed, but not used very much for quite a while.

I have randomly been loosing the ability to have ASUS WiFi File Manager find my Desktop PC.
I have never been able to define what is causing it to just "disappear"....

It works today, and not tomorrow, and never again, until I change the WiFi signal to my Verizon MiFi router and transfer files to my Linux laptop.... then, sometimes, the Desktop appears again when I get back home and the local AT&T WiFi is recognized and wallah, the PC shows up again and works.

From what you have just said, I am going to uninstall ES File Explorer for the time being.
I just put Solid Explorer on yesterday and extremely impressed with it... thinking that will be the new 'work horse' around here.

ES is dangerous and you MUST remember what parts of it not to use or simply uninstall it.

The thing I really love about Solid is the two pane display when in landscape mode. I like internal in one pane and SD card in the other. When you rotate to portrait it will display the pane that you last touched. X-plore is also a good alternative that many people like.

I agree,
after I installed the Manager Pro version, and started looking around with it on my rooted Note 4, I discovered that IF a mistake was made with my FAT Thumbs, that I could easily destroy my Note 4.

I backed out of it and quit using it......
then Solid Explorer was talked about this week and I looked into that one.
I feel much more comfortable with it, ATM.

The one thing that I simply love about ES is the UI... Soo much like Windows with simple copy / paste commands. I'm using Solid, but out of all the file managers I still think ES nailed it with the UI interface.

I too dropped ES a long time ago for Solid Explorer and have never looked back. :)

The dual screens is a cool feature, but to coolest feature has to be to drag and drop animations! Try it, pop into folder with lots of files, create a new folder within that folder. Now select lots of files, next hold your finger on the selection and move it across the screen to the new folder and drop the files in there.. pure heaven.:p

Conclusion on original problem I reported ...

ES File Explorer/File Manager Pro has not been installed on this device for more than two weeks.

The problem came back where the SD card was not recognized. If I powered off, reseated the carrier with the SD & SIM cards, and powered on it was recognized again. It would then fail again in one to two hours.

I swapped the 128 GB Class 10 SD card with a spare 32 GB Class 10 SD card that I had and it has not failed in the last 23 hours.

Conclusion ... the original problem was apparently caused by a failing SD card and not ES File Explorer/File Manager Pro.
