Es file manager not hiding files or folders?

I tried to hide some files using Es file Explorer. Once hidden they are not visible in es file explorer(unless you open options+Hidden list), But those files and folders are visible in default file explorer and mx player which is very disspointing. Does there is any specific way to hide them.
i hide files or folder by long pressing them and select hide it.

Android is based on linux and therefore the way you designate a hidden file or folder it to begin the name with a period. For example, a folder named "invisible" in order to be hidden would be named ".invisible". Hiding them in the manner you describe just hides them in ES file explorer.

If there are media files in hidden folders, MX will still see them. For those to be hidden as well you must place an empty file called ".nomedia" in the folder where the files are located.
