esn question

if someone is not planning on paying their phone bill and the phone thats on the plan is still clear for activating, can someone else with a sprint account activate it ?

and after its activated on another account, is it possible for the esn to go bad while on the account when the bill isnt paid?

sprint screwed over a family member so hes trying to see what he can do with the phones before the window to pay the bill is over.

any info on this would be great...thanks

its an evo if that matters at all...

Just make sure this person knows that eventually the bill will go to collections and affect their credit, whether or not Sprint is in the wrong is it really worth ruining their credit over a phone bill?

As for your question, you won't be able to activate the Evo on a different account until it's disassociated with it's current account. So, the account holder would have to swap their device to a different phone before the Evo is free to activate on another account. At that point you would no longer have to worry about the ESN being flagged as bad.

the person doesnt have any credit anyways lol...he didnt care at all.

and i dont understand because i already activated one of the phones from his line on our account and its working fine, im just worried about when the bill doesnt get paid, can the phone's esn go bad and then be unable to work even tho it was already activated?

and thanks for answering

No once the phone is detached from his number a non-paid bill will not change it to a bad ESN. Whatever phone is currently on the account will be the one that is blacklisted.

Moved to the Sprint forums, perhaps some of the experts here will be able to help with your questions.

I am not sure about sprint policies but I know with VZW if you get a discounted phone with a 2 year contract and then you stop paying your contract the discounted phone's ESN is blacklisted not the phone on the plan at the time if you are still within the contract term. I would think Sprint's policy is the same way.

I would have to agree with yeahha.... the discounted phone.. until the end of the contract, it is attached to the contract... The ESN will be marked as bad..

but would it stop working .. since it is already attached to a different account? only a sprint rep can answer that... my guess, it would stop. and your good account might be flagged too.

so i just checked then esn with the esncheckerfree website...both phones are coming up as bad D:

but im still getting service...right now atleast....idk whats going to happen

did you already switch? any phone activated to an account (whether in good standing or bad) will show as bad on the checker website because you can't activate a phone already on an account.

you sure? because when i had them on the account in the beginning they were clear.

then dec 1st came up and now there bad.

idk because they still work right now
