Help Even 'recovery' boot can't save my nexus one!

lipase

Lurker
I reset my nexus one, running android 2.6.3 (I think), by pressing the 'volume down' button and the 'power' buttons at the same time and select 'recovery' but it just comes up with a screen with the little green android dude with an exclaimation mark in a triangle above his head.

The original problem was that when I turned it on it gets past the first start up screen (a stationary picture of a four different coloured lines leading to a central point) and does the next start up screen animation continuously, presumably until the battery is dead.

Any ideas?

Should I just be sending this off to the warrantee people if they cover this?

Thanks for reading

Hello and welcome aboard. If I were you, I would. That's just the first sign of possibly more 'wrongs' to come.

Thanks for the tip but I'm fairly sure they don't cover this sort of thing. They don't cover software. Do you know of any way to be certain it's a software or hardware problem?

It could be my own fault this has happened. I have (infrequently) visited adult sites on my phone if you know what I mean. Also I downloaded an app which I thought looked OK after which things started to crash that didn't originally crash.

With the phone powered off (pull the battery for a few seconds to be certain) press and hold the volume down button and press the power button until you get the following screen:

Use the volume up/down buttons to highlight "clear storage". Press the power button to select and use the vol. up/down buttons again to confirm.

Reboot your phone and it should be reset to factory conditions. If it still won't boot you may have a hardware issue.
