Events created on Android phone do not notify

In my Google Calendar I have a few different notifications set to get put on each new event. An SMS 1 day before the event, an SMS 30 minutes before, and an email 2 days before. When I create a Google calendar event online using Firefox, all 3 of these notifications get set automatically and work fine. When I create an event from my Android phone, (the more common way I do it), the event syncs fine with the online calendar, but the only notification that gets set is a popup 15 minutes before the event. If I want the other notifications the only way I can get them is to re-create the event online. Does anyone know why this is working this way and how I can fix it so that the events created on my phone get the notifications I have set by default in Calendar? Thanks.

Which phone do you have? My Nexus 4 lets me create an event and set either a push notification or an email reminder.

IIRC, my Captivate would not let me do that. I think it has to do with the fact that my N4 is running stock google apps(ergo, Google Calendar). I don't know who made the calendar app that Samsung Galaxies use. Perhaps it's Samsung.

I am using the old Samsung Charge but am waiting for delivery of my Note 3. It may work differently on the new phone.

I did just realize that the Calendar App I have on my phone since 2 years ago is not made by Google. It is an App called Smooth Calendar. I have been happy with it as it seamlessly syncs with my online Calendar, but it may be the reason I am having this issue. When the Note 3 arrives, I may need to try another calendar that has more notification options or that will pick up the notifications I have set by default online. Time to do some calendar research to find recommendations.
