Ever fix an old xbox ?

350X

I know my old xbox has power, press the power or dvd tray button and the light on the wireless controller that plugs into the controller port lights up, so its getting power but nothing happens.

I use it mostly for a DVD player in a bedroom, last time I watched a movie I had to press the button a few times, like it kept shutting off trying to get the disc out. didn't think to check more, now nadda.

did the spare cord, diiifferent socket thingy.

Murphys Law part of the story, ill have a new Xbox 360 slim in a week, got a deal online I couldn't say no on a 250GB bundle

Taken it all apart, nothing blown or obvious, with top off I can see the case fan try come on for a quick sec when power button is pushed.

I get no color codes of any kind

The old Xboxes, much like their newer brethren, also had high failure rates early on. However I have two 360s, one a first-gen white and any red rings of death have been related to bad power bricks ($40 a pop) or power failure or getting too hot, or bad video cable (bad HDMI cable threw the three red rings once). None have 'killed' the console. Conversely, I have lost three rather expensive (in comparison) PlayStation 3 consoles to 'yellow light of death' which is unfixable. Two were 250GB slims, the other a 40GB fattie.

The 360 is so much more capable and the Live service was terminated on the original so they cannot even get online anymore making them essentially pointless today. I often use mine lately for Netflix and hardly game much lately...I've logged more hours on that ugly white behemoth over any PS3 though.
