Just got my Moto X - first smart phone ever. I got it to work with Evernote between my PC and phone. Well, I downloaded Evernote and got the message that it's already installed but does not appear on the phone as an App or a Widget.

Welcome to Android Forums.

Did you install it from the Google Play Store? I've never had the problem that you describe with Evernote. You can see for sure if it is installed by going to (from home) settings -> apps. It should be in the list of downloaded apps (which are sorted alphabetically.)

If it is there, you can tap it and uninstall it and then try installing again.

If you downloaded from another source, I'd still encourage you to install from the Play Store.

Tip: you can install apps to an Android phone from a PC web browser by logging in to the same Google account that you have on the phone. So, you can try to install Evernote from a pc browser, here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.evernote

Hi - thanks for the response.. The problem is that I don't even have an icon for Google Play! I think it might have something to do with the way I tried setting up the phone when I got it yesterday. Do you know how or where I can get that Google Play icon/program back?

It's called "Play Store" in the application drawer. (In case you weren't aware, you get to the application drawer, which is an alphabetic list of all applications and widgets that are installed, by tapping the circular icon on the dock.)

You can drag any app icon or widget from the app drawer, which will show your home screen and allow you to drag the icon or widget to the home screen.

(Pardon me if you already knew all of this, but since you are new to smartphones, it's possible that you're not aware how all of this works...)

Turns out I had disabled the Google Play app for some reason when I got the phone. I found it under 'disabled apps' re-enabled it and then all of the programs I downloaded (evernote, one or two others) appeared.
