Evo 4G (with the great discounts) or wait for Evo 3D

Hey guys, I am having a bit of a predicament. I am with ATT currently and cannot wait to get out. I have been eyeing the Evo line and am interested in both the Evo 4G and the Evo 3D (especially).

Well, Sprint currently is running that promotion that they will give you 125$ if you port your number over. That is a sweet deal. However, the discount ends on the 16th of this month.

What do you guys think I should do? I am absolutely interested in the Evo 3D, but the money is good, and I think the Evo 4G will suffice.

Any opinions?

You are in a tough position. And the 125$ credit Sprint is offering ends in about a week, so you dont have much time to decide. I think you will be much happier with Sprints plans, you'll save money, that is for sure. The EVO 4G is a more than capable phone, I got mine in June, still love it, and would recommend it to anyone. That being said, the EVO 3D has the potential to be the biggest, baddest phone of the year. Its a tough call, but I think you are in a win-win situation. If you take the money and the EVO 4G, you will still be happy and get a nice chunk of change (literally and figuratively) . If you skip the 125$ and get the EVO3D, you will have bragging rights for the rest of the year.

for the credit, visit: www.sprint.com/switchtosprint you have to follow the directions carefully. for example, you only have 72hours after porting your number to fill out the application.

honestly right now wait. Get a used evo when the evo 3d comes out and ait itll about september by then all the best phones of 2011 will be out

Thanks for the replies guys, I appreciate it. I guess I will wait it out. The E3D is looking mighty nice, so I guess I'll switch when it releases. I just hope Sprint comes out with a deal just as good as the current one.

Go buy an EVO at Best Buy, sign up for the trade in program, and I think if it's before 6 months you get like 50% of the value of the phone based on the retail price of $599. So when the the EVO 3D comes out if the retail price is $600 and you have $300-350 to shell out then you can the best of both worlds. Also EBAY is always your friend when it comes to selling phones.

Just a thought if you wanted to get on Sprint now with the porting promotion credit.

buy evo on craigslist for $200.
get new plan with sprint.. dont get phone! save the discount.
port number.. get $125.
wait for release of e3d.
buy e3d for ??? $200-250 and use your discount!
sell evo on craigslist for $150 -175

So if I get a plan with sprint without buying a phone, will I be locked in to a 2 year contract (I'm assuming no, because they are not subsidizing anything). Will I still have to do an activation fee?

And when I do get the E3D, that's when the 2 year contract begins, correct?

That's exactly what I would do. Though, I'd probably get a used Pixie for $30, not an Evo

I used to have a Pixie and while it isn't an Android phone I liked it a lot. You might think about the Optimus S. It will get you acclimated to Android and it is a sweet phone in addition to being very inexpensive. Then, when the time comes you can get the EVO 3D. :D
