How much are you paying VM? I love my Triumph and 25 bucks a month is a steal on the plan. However, the reason I wanna move away from VM is for three reasons.
1) We do not get phones like boost does. It seems that boost mobile is Spirit's favorite pre-paid carrier and everytime we would rumor that a phone comes to VM, it goes to them (I am gonna rage!, not really). I give up my hopes.
2) For the plan, 3G speeds are okay and throttle is ridiculous. I need 4G more than ever now, I am using an ear-reward site and the 4G speeds is best to kill the time sooner and not later; and use the 4G when I need to get info outside my home. I am getting a PS Vita down the road so eventually I need to tether for more than one network.
3) The fact that VM and Motorola won't get a gingerbread update, it tells me that they are not wanting to hold the longevity of the company. I am disappointed on how they treat their customers. Yes we have Grandfathered accounts now but if I want to upgrade I'll loose that benefit. It is better I go on T-Mobile's 30 a month plan with 5GBs of 4G. I also heard that EDGE network after 5GB is gone is about the same as Virgin Mobile's 3G when throttled, I can deal with it.
My opinion is if you are happy with the Triumph and you are on the grandfather account and not wanting to upgrade the phone. Stay on the Triumph as much as you can. Looking at your decision to get a better phone, the only choice to save 5 bucks a month is T-Mobile and find a phone similar to the EVO 3D or better. You want a Galaxy Nexus and so do I. However what I am holding back to why I do not upgrade myself a phone soon is because I have one more month of college. I also wanna sell the GF account on eBay to make money after school is done, out of the reward I will put it on the new phone. I also want to see what SGS3 has in store, but sooner or later I will upgrade to a better phone but I would not count on VM to be the winner of my decision. Go for T-Mobile's 30 plan and leave VM anytime after May 27th.
