Help Excessive data usage

Hii... how can I restrict google play store from consuming all my data??
All my data is eaten up by play store even if I do no download anything.
I have turned off updates still it happens.
The second thing that consumes data is "removed apps". I dont knw how to get rid of that. I cannot restrict background usage because I need background data for aapps like news, whatsapp, fb...
Can I restrict background usage of some selected apps like play store???
My os is android 4.3 and is in warranty so I do not want to root my phone. Plz help!!

Try installing a firewall that doesn't need root and that allows restriction by app. (Avast would work, but I think it needs root. But it's free, so try it.) Then just restrict Play to wifi (select 3G and Roaming to block them). Restrict any app you don't need to instantly connect wherever you are to wifi only. Even your email and text programs, if you don't care about getting them late. (Just be aware that Play Store won't run if it doesn't have internet access, so don't panic and think you broke it when it refuses to run because you have no wifi connection.)

Hii thnx... are u talking abt the option "auto-update on wifi only" in play store??? Or is there any other settings? How can I restrict apps to wi-fi only??

my s3 also has high data usage from 'removed apps'.. how in the he__ are REMOVED apps using data? Also, can anyone tell me why any apps at all are using mobile data when i am connected to my home wifi 24/7, as i rarely leave my house?

ok, i just read that the removed apps data usage is just that... data usage from apps that have been removed during the data usage period that is being viewed.DUUUHHHH... i feel like an idiot. makes perfect sense.

I have the same issue. Limiting Play Store is not the option as it hinders proper use of android. I need to find WHY Play Store would use more than 1Gb of data per month without downloads.

Any further suggestions, please?
