Help exchange (corporate) sync problems?

Anyone having difficulties on the razr with corporate sync? None of the contact photos are coming to the phone (exchange server sync). They work with touchdown... but I prefer to use the stock for contacts and calendar and use touchdown only for email. Suggestions welcome... thanks.

Not at all. I had the opposite problem. I had Touchdown on my Tbolt, and it did not like my exchange server at all. The sync on my Razr came off without a hitch. what version of Exchange server are you running ? We are on 2010.

I'm considering this phone; but exchange sync is very important to me....could you confirm that all contacts are properly synced, along with the photo.

Could you try editing the contact on the phone and check if the change is reflecting in your Outlook (desktop).

How about Calendar and Tasks Sync....is it seamless?

Thanks in advance for the input...

I'm using Touchdown on my phone for corporate email and it works flawlessly thus far...

I did not try using the native Exchange Sync since my corporate IT department will only support employees using Touchdown.

I use Office 365 offering from Microsoft which includes my domain and Exchange hosting. Set it up as a Corporate Sync email account and have not run into any issues. Working great so far.

Good question... In Outlook, the exchange server is 2010. However, on my bolt and other phones I was told to use 2007 (for mobile devices, I believe)... which has worked flawlessly for several years now. Is there something different about Moto and/or Razr that I should try changing exchange server to 2010? Hadn't thought of that.

Kris... I'm sure my problem is a setting either on phone or at work. On Tbolt, Incredible, Iphones... exchange server worked seamlessly incl photos. Not for Notes, though. Android hasn't mastered that yet. I would, like others, recommend Touchdown for exchange server syncing... though I only use it for email. I use stock for contacts (for easier use with phone) and calendar (for use with 3rd party calendar Business Calendar so I have month view with text).

Thanks for all the feedback. I have an iPad and almost all my colleagues have iPhone... quite sure Exchange sync works well with iOS. But I'm too bored with iOS to buy an iPhone.
Using a WM6.5 phone now, which has USB Sync facility. mails on phone is not a priority for me....but I believe the new WP7 and Android dont have the USB Activesync features....and I have to depend on cloud or exchange for sync. as much as possible, I prefer to use the stock features....i'm not geeky enough to troubleshoot 3rd party softwares.

Its good to know that GB Android covers this.....I have also been reading that Icecream Sandwich has improved Exchange sync abilities....hope the update comes to the Razr soon.

The last that I heard Microsoft had retired USB ActiveSync... they, like most of their competitors, are now pushing synchronization through the cloud. There are still some third party USB ActiveSync solutions available but I suspect we won't see a lot of future development in these areas.

I'm the network admin at my company and tested out the razr on different versions of exchange. I have used touchdown aswell as the native client and it works well.

We are running exchange 2003 and active sync works well. I also tested 2007 which works well also. My razr also works well with exchange online. Thats where mine is synced to right now.

Theres not a client that can do notes yet unless you are on a blackberry running a bes server.

Tasks, calendar, contacts, and email are all being pushed correctly.

About the contacts photo. It wont work. Thats one thing I am upset about with this phone. Its the motorola email client. Found a couple posts about it. Even one on the Motorola site. So no im putting my contacts with photos to my gmail contacts which sync properly. I believe its the same with bionics and a couple of other moto models.

I just found the same posts about Motorola exchange not allowing photos. That's a HUGE shortcoming!! Guess I'll have to use Touchdown contacts. Wow... I find that really mind boggling...

oh....that's really sad. photos would have been really cool to have. Is this only with Motorola or all Android phones have this issue?

I can't speak for all droids, but photos synced fine on my htc phones.

I've worked around this problem with touchdown and transferring contacts from TD to stock contacts. Remember to check TD to update changes and I think you have to always make changes in outlook or in TD.

My HTC worked fine syncing pics. I believe it is a moto email client issue. My Galaxy Tab corp exchange client works fine also. It's a bummer for me too, having to put pictures again sucks.

Tomorrow at work I am going to test out migrating my Exchange contacts to my Gmail using the paid version of Google Apps for business. Going to try out Google Apps sync, just not too sure if it will also migrate the pictures.

Now I'm finding that Touchdown doesn't seem to be updating contacts in the native address book even though I have that boxed check in advanced settings. This is whole "moto doesn't sync corporate contact pics" thing is a bit much.

Yes, that seems correct. If i remember correctly on my Droid Inc, the contacts will only show within the touchdown contacts by default. I can't seem to remember what I checked off to make the contacts appear on the native contacts.

Have you looked at all the settings within the native contacts? Is there a list that you can check off for Touchdown syncing?

I know how to get TD contacts copied to the native as a whole. It's the keeping them updated as changes are made that I don't see happening even though I have the setting checked to do that. Thanks though. Native is splitting company names into first/last in ways that put the contact under the wrong alpha group.

I just entered a Task in Exchange, and it showed up in my lists on the TASK app,

Personally, I'm liking the syncing with this phone... I made some changes on desktop while looking at Calendar Agenda on phone... the sync was less than 5 sec.

I wish I could get everything to sync. I can get all but my tasks to sync. This is frustrating to me because I use it constantly. The task widget always says..."No Tasks"

Calendar and e-mail sync just fine.

What am I doing wrong?
