Help Exchange email stopped working today

I didn't see anything when I searched on here, and Googled if Verizon was having issues, so maybe it's just me?

Earlier this morning, my company email (Exchange) was working fine. Then about 11a, I'm sitting in a meeting and decided to check my email and instead of looking at the list of messages that I saw earlier, it now says "No messages". I clicked the refresh and it just spins. I choose other folders (like Sent), and I see other emails listed.

I'm running ICS on a Razr MAXX. I've rebooted and there was no change.

Is there something going on system-wide, something funky with our Exchange server... "other"?

I gave up on it and stopped looking at it for a few hours. Then in my 3p meeting, I decided to see if it still is having problems and yup nothing. But what shocked me is that it was down to 30% power! On an average day, it's about 60% when I plug it in at night, so something is still eating a lot of battery!

Checking the settings again... I originally had it set to keep 3 days of messages. I changed it to one and then rebooted. After about ten minutes, it had email up to about 1p (it's now 3:30p).

It's sloooooooowly downloading the rest of today's email (I'm on 4G with 3 to 4 bars). By the time I got out of my meeting, it was 3:45 and I had 22% battery, so I've plugged it in so it'd continue to download, and not completely drain the battery.

It's almost caught up with current email. It's interesting that the spinning circle is still going (hinting that it's still refreshing). The screen still says 'Updated: 9:45am).

Just........... weird.

The phone attempting to update could be what chewed through all of that battery. I've noticed the more poor the signal, the more battery drain (though I don't have a Razr Maxx)

Since the ICS update, this has happened to me several times. I am able to send messages but the phone will not communicate with the incoming server. This usually happens when I switch wifi connections, like from work to home. If I shut off wifi, it will connect fine over 3G or 4G. A reset will fix the issue.

This, combined with the loss of speaker sound that happens fairly frequently and also requires a reset, has (sadly) led me to setting Maxxie aside until we get a fix. Back to the 4S for now because I need reliable email...

I had multiple issues with Exchange mail with my Maxx since day 1. Always had syncing issues, messages would disappear and re-appear with the stock app. I tried K-9, it worked better but still had issues with it, mainly deleted mail re-appearing. I then trialled Touchdown and all email issues are gone. It is a great app. It was really tough to shell out $20.00 for a phone app but it does it's job better than any other mail app. Active sync works well and mail, calendar, tasks are always up to date.

Had the same issue, it appears to happen when connected via WiFi and then that connection goes away. I deleted the account and tried to set it back up, however when that happened I couldn't connect back to server (4g Verizon with data coming in from other sources). I then re-connected to Wifi and it rolled right through the set up with no problems.

I think this nails it exactly. I hope Verizon or whoever is being made aware of this so it can be fixed...
