Help Exchange & Tethering

Newbie
Hi,

I was looking to see if it would be possible to get a little more out of my HTC Magic.

1. Is it possible, or is there an app that would allow me to connect to MS Exchange for email? I only need the mails, rather than calendar and contacts.

2. Can I tether with this phone? I use an Apple MacBook Pro that has both Bluetooth and USB connections.

3. Is there an app that would allow me to send files via Bluetoth?

Many thanks,

Chris.

The best tether system I've found is the one included with the cyanogen mod ROM. It works with any PC regardless of OS, unlike most other options e.g. pdanet.

To use it you woud have to Root your Magic and install the cyanogen mod custom ROM.

As well as giving you the tether options it would speed up your Magic, give you updated versions of various bits of software and many other added features.

Sounds good, is there a guide for that?

Just follow the guide on the cyanogen page

CyanogenMod Wiki

Once you've rooted your phone the world's your oyster, there are many, many ROMs out there. Cyanogen is probably the most famous and widely supported

I managed to find the file elsewhere.

However when doing the first stage (Number five on guide) the update fails with an incorrect model message.

The goldcard guide mentioned on the page won't work - any other ideas?

Thanks, Chris.
