exclude/keep open certain apps without a task killer?

After reading explanations etc about why we shouldn't use task killers, i have decided to remove my task killer app.

However one small problem i have is, if i dont have a task killer app, how can i make certain apps exclude so they wont be closed? For example a custom battery app.

When you're excluding apps from being killed, its to prevent the task killer killing them. Now you have no killer so no need to exclude anything
