I don't know whether to believe this or not. I suppose it's possible, however I can't imagine so much exclusivity on one android phone.

The date on that article is from August. As I recall there was speculation as to whether Gingerbread would be 3.2 or 2.3 until much more recently.... am I missing something?

I will LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE if this happens. Main reason: With a more defined gaming device with Android, I know that we can expect better games to come out on Android as the iPhone has a bigger and better database of games and it does make me sad as it's the only thing that I miss with Android. It's getting better as time goes on as the really good iPhone games are slowly moving to Android (with games like Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, etc.), but I still think the iPhone App store beats the Android App store for this one reason.

Nah, as you said, that article was from August. It's old rumors. The rumored phone is the Xperia Play, and Gingerbread is 2.3.
