Export mail from built in samsung mail app

Hello,

i have to convert an old mail account from pop3 to imap and i have to keep the mails and import them in the new imap account.

Any idea how to export the mails from the integrated samsung mail app and reimport them when i created the new imap account?

Email is all based on online servers maintained by various services (Google, Yahoo, AOL, or some indie running their own email server) so it's always a server <> client situation. Any email app is always going to be the client so it doesn't have the ability to do things like switch from POP3 to IMAP.
You need to log into your email service account and use the web interface to do the changeover.

Which email service are you using?
If you haven't been allowing your email service to save everything for you (so there are copies in your online account),it's not safe to rely on your phone as the only source for your data. You really need to get a backup solution set up now. Try setting up Samsung's Smart Switch utility:
https://www.samsung.com/us/smart-switch/

Its not my phone, i heavily suggested to switch to imap to not rely on the phone as the only source for the data.
Thats the point, now I have to clean this mess up

E-Mail Service is T-Online in Germany and there are several devices in the game with also different data conditions.

I will try Smart Switch, thanks.

Can i possibly create the imap account in the GMail app and import the mails from samsung mail?

Didn`t worked :(

Still have no clue how to save those emails

Edit: I talked with Samsung support andy the confirmed that there is no other way than resend the old mails again

The only way I can think of is to create a new email account with imap, then login to your old email account and send those emails to your new imap email account....

Bugger! I have a similar issue. I use two different devices to access my emails, Microsoft mail on my PC and the native app on my phone. I've recently had the issue of various emails disappearing from my PC but still being on my phone. I have been informed this can occur when one of the email clients is set up using pop instead of IMAP so it was suggested I back up my emails on my phone, remove the old account and set up a new IMAP account, then re-store those emails on my phone from the back up.
My emails are still held on the server though, so if I've read this correctly, I could remove the POP account from my phone, reconfigure an IMAP account on my phone and simply sync my phone with my email server to restore my emails.
Can anyone please confirm if I have understood this correctly or if there is more to it?
