Extending USB cable for tablet

Hello,
I am replacing my factory head unit in my car with a Nvidia Shield K1 and an OTG Y cable. Both charging and audio works fine but only one at a time, meaning that it either charges or plays music as I desire. When I play music with the tablet plugged in, there is a lot of noise and feedback that comes from the car's power. I knew this would be an issue so I put a switch in the power supply that I plug my shield into so I could charge it when I'm not listening to music or when I'm not in the car. This worked at first until I realized that the tablet wasn't charging even when the switch was on.

After some research, I found out that to use the OTG Y cable you must plug in the power first, then the accessories (audio for me), then the tablet. After trying this, everything worked (audio and power), but my main issue is that I cannot keep plugging and unplugging everything in because it is behind the tablet and in the dash. After some thinking, I figured that I could use some extension cables that would feed into my center console so I can unplug and plug the cables in the order I need to when I need to. My main question is would the lengthening of the USB cable (12 ft in total) impact sound quality/signal strength?

Thanks

Well as long as it is a high quality cable it should be fine, though I would probably rethink the setup, seems like it is over complicated. Is there a reason you are using a Shield K1?

I already had it and figured why buy a new one. I know it seems complicated (and it is) but I had a hard time coming up with a different solution. I'd be open to suggestions

USB 2.0 is specced to a maximum of 5 metres cable per device. So I guess as long as you're using good quality cables, not cheapo, it should be aright. It wouldn't degrade the audio quality, as it's a digital signal. It would give errors or wouldn't work at all.
