external battery pack! Awesome!

Mine is bigger than yours. :D

New Trent iCruiser IMP1000 11000mAh External Battery: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

Not trying to show off or anything. Honest. :p

But yeah, theyre pretty useful things to have kicking around. Mine will recharge my phone 6-7 times, so it'll easily last me a week away from a power source (as long as you dont let everyone else know youve got it...)
Yours is pretty cool too, but I like the smaller size of the other one better, because I can just toss it in my pocket, and it won't bother me.

Anyone know if it will charge a HTC phone with "Charging (AC)"?

To see in Settings, About phone, Battery, Battery status ... "Charging (AC)" or "Charging (USB)".

"Charging (AC)" means that the phone charges with double current as standard USB current. And double current means too that the phone charges two times faster, like charging with wall charger :)

This would be a nice feature with the Anker Astro :)

Harry

Most devices that support the two charging modes (AC or USB), such as your HTC and my SGS2, detect the charging mode by determining the resistance across the two USB data pins (2 & 3 -- the inside pins -- on the standard rectangular USB connector). If this resistance is < 200 ohms, the device goes into AC charge mode and will draw more current.

So if the battery pack can deliver sufficient current, it should appear to your device as an AC charger, provided that the USB data pins are tied together with low resistance. If they aren't, a little surgery on the battery pack's output jack, or a charging cable, should do the trick.

Nice to quote myself and answer my own question ;)

Yes, the Anker Astro charges a HTC phone with "AC", but only with its own adapter connector.
With a standard USB to microUSB cable the Anker only charges with "USB".

So the JustMobile Gum Pro will be further on my favorite with mobile chargers :)
Only 4400mAh but no tiny adapter connector for to lose :)

Anyone have more info on these battery packs? Perhaps comparison pictures? I'm looking for something compact that can juice My Galaxy Nexus at least two times with a Verizon extended battery. Fast charging would also be nice.

Same. It'd be nice to know how many times that Anker can charge a Nexus. It seems like a useful buy. I can just charge my phone in my pocket with this small thing.

There are some unknown things like the phone's stand-by power consuming ... but for a rough calculation you could use the factor 0.65 as degree of charging effecieny for the battery of a mobile charger.

So the Anker has
5600mAh x 0.65 = 3640mAh
for calculating.
The Nexus has 1850mAh, so
3640mAh / 1850mAh = 1.97

So the Anker would be able to charge your Nexus about two times from 0% to 100%.

But if you want only to charge from 20% to 100% you should calculate with 80% of the Nexus's capacity.
So the calculation would be
3640mAh / 1480mAh = 2.46

So the Anker would be able to charge your Nexus about two and a half times from 20% to 100%.

Maybe this helps you to decide ... :)

Hopefully I get close to the two full charges I'm hoping for out of this device. Considering I have the extended battery @ 2100mAh, If I use your calculations I'm expecting 1.73 charges. I'll see how it goes and report back in a few weeks.

Still hoping someone might have more hands on input with this and any other battery packs.
