Extract zip and rar on network

I'm trying to find an app that will extract a rar file on a network drive. samba or ftp would be fine.

I've tried many file manager apps such as es and astro, along with extraction apps such as arcidroid and zarchiver. However, they only work from local storage. The rar files are to large to download to my phone when upload to my nas.

What have you tried? Since this is a 2012 post, many of the apps the OP mentioned have gotten increased functionality. Have you tried Total Commander? It seems to have an ftp and LAN plugins.
