Help Face Unlock missing

DiscoDave

Lurker
guys,

my partner and I both got a HTC one X yesterday and while we have been playing, I have the face unlock option in the screen lock menu but she does not???
In the "APPS" menu the app appears to be there but either force closing or disable/enable makes no difference it does not appear.

Any ideas?

thanks

I assume clearing the cache does not solve the issue either? If so i'm afraid i'm as miffed as you are & all I can suggest is to return the phone & see if they will replace it.

checked the cache in the "APPS" option and everything in the option for the face unlock is just blanked out as there is nothing to clear so to speak :(
In the meantime we have sent a message to HTC and will be speaking with network provider as soon as we can to see what the score is

hi guys,

update: for some reason it was there this morning??? Very wierd
Davewood: yeah mate I agree but its more a wonder as to why something is/was missig. Made me think what else could be missing.

Anyway thanks guys, I have more problems so will be starting another thread LOL

It's available under Settings, Security, Screenlock.

It works like crap and was such a pain I removed it after two minutes.

lol....I didn't even realise the phone had it! Don't think I'll bother with it after what you've just reported.

I quite like it. Can unlock my phone quickly. Especially handy in the car when i have it in a holder on the dashboard. You realise you can make the detection better by taking multiple pictures in different lighting conditions?

yer im currently using it on mine, its failed mabe 3 times out of last 100 so i cant really complain about it being too inacurate.

although that being said it is poor in low light but that is to be expected I guess. would be inproved with a small led on the front that came on during detection i think.

Or make the unlock screen momentarily white (except where to line your face up with) with brightness momentarily spiked so as to simulate a flash...

That could also work. Submit that to google. Great idea.

Thanks! It isn't a bug so I couldn't put it in the bugtracker, and I am still awaiting approval for the Google Group, but I put it on the Google Developers and a handful of known engineers' Google+ pages...

If you find you cant disable the lock screen or enable face lock in the security options because they are faded out, you need to "clear credentials" at the bottom of the security menu. This worked perfect for me :)
