Facebook app causing input lag

Silvarro

Newbie
Since a couple updates the Facebook app is causing input lag on my keyboard app. I use Gboard but it happens with Swiftkey as well. I tried reinstalling Facebook and even a factory reset¹ but nothing worked. I simply can't be the only one having this problem.

P.S. I was already planning to factory reset my phone cause of all the clutter. The issues with Facebook had nothing to do with it.

Device info:
Brand: Nokia
Model: 8.1
OS: Android 10

It all depends on how much of this depends on your phone model rather than just the Facebook app (I say "just" because Facebook write some really poor software, and never show the slightest concern with how poorly it runs or what else it interferes with). I rarely post on Facebook, but I've just confirmed that I see no problem with my Pixel 2 (same age as the Nokia 8.1, same RAM, slightly higher-end processor and Android 11).

Have you tried installing the "Facebook Lite" app instead? Or used a browser (which means you'll miss the notifications, but as nothing on Facebook is urgent and the app's notifications are stupid and annoying, especially when it notifies you of stuff they know you've already read, I'd not personally consider them any loss at all ;)).

Welcome to the world of Facebook, where every update brings chaos.
As Hadron has stated, switching to Facebook lite or using a browser is your best option. You can also contact the developer but don't hold your breath...

I switched to a Facebook wrapper called Simple Social which is basically a browser with extra features built in it.

I used to use a wrapper called Frost, available on F-Droid.

It was ok, but hard to download things with.

I now just use FB Lite, and if I want to download something I use my browser instead.

I have fb light and it is alight, just automatically kicks me off though ^_^

I use photos, streaming youtube, the entire ball of wax completely for my moto.
