I have changed my facebook privacy settings (with my computer) so that "https:" starts at the beginning of the URL address when logged in. Question: When I use the android facebook app will I have the same security?

No, that setting is only for using facebook through a browser.

Thank you. I assume then that for mobile phone use, the safest way to use facebook would be through the phone's browser and not use the android app.
