Facebook Checkin on HTC Wildfire - how to add new places?

Hi, I have a question about how to create new places to check in to on my wildfire.

I have the facebook app and it has 'places' on it and I can check in but according to articles I've googled, there should be an 'Add' button next to the search box in the places app.

I don't see that and was wondering if anyone knew why, is it a phone thing?​

The app doesn't have "add" .. instead write what you want in the "search" box e.g. "on the sofa"... it will then offer you the option to add "on the sofa" when it can't find it as a location and when you add it it will save it for future reference and will list it in. "places"
