Facebook contacts showing as 0

On my HTC One M9, I've logged into the most updated Facebook app, gone to Phone>Open Account Settings added Facebook, clicked to Sync Contacts (it seems to take about 0.2 seconds, which is way too quick), and then when I go to the Phonebook link in the top left of the People listings page, it shows all my synced accounts and the numbers of users associated with them. Facebook and Messenger both show as 0, and no users are pulling through. If I click to manually link a user to a facebook account, there are none found.

Any ideas? I've never had this problem before with any other version of Android

Same thing happening to me. I suspect a recent FB software update is the culprit. Never had this problem until a few days ago.
