Facebook SNS App - can't delete?!

Hello everyone,

This is my first post...

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3. Just to note I've never downloaded the facebook or twitter app. I sign into both from Chrome on the phone and then use either the mobile or desktop page.

The other day I was scrolling through all the apps on the phone, and noticed a new one - it's called SNS and it has a facebook (the f) logo next to it. I can clear it's data, I can force stop it, and I can disable it. But I can't delete it!

I tried multiple uninstallers, and the only one that even came up with it in it's list said it couldn't be uninstalled.

Is there a way to get rid of it? I made a point of not downloading any social networking stuff to the phone, and not this has appeared!

Thanks,
chip

You need to root. See your phone's forum for how to do that.

Then you can freeze or get rid of any bloatware you want using Titanium backup or (much simpler) Gemini Apps manager etc. Freezing is safer, you can always get it back if you see undesired results.

Really? Not to sound too naive but I thought rooting was complicated and/or not supposed to be done to the phone? And where did this come from? That means Facebook can just put apps wherever it wants? Very frustrating!

Thanks for the advice-

This is my first post as well, so here is my first shot at troubleshooting,

This is not too difficult. It is part of a system that you had enabled while using chrome.

Here are some things that you can do.
1. Go to the applications manager and disable this app, as you know it, its SNS Facebook. you will find it in "All" tab in the Application manager.
2. You can disable SNS through chrome. Basically fully reset chrome.

This will stop SNS from interfering with your connectivity and you won't be bothered again.

Hope that helped.

Cheers

samsung put it there, blame them not facebook. the only way to get rid of.it is with root and.something like titanium backup, it can be disabled as well but if you want it.gone for good the stock software cant do.that you need root and the know.how to do.it yourself or a program like titanium backup kuz its built in software that came on the phone from the factory

mind you this is.a very old.issue so im sure its been.worked out.by.now...
