Factory reset but apps aren't coming back

I factory-restored my Galaxy S5 and during setup, I logged into my Google account and connected to Wi-Fi.

When I got to the home screen, I left my phone for two hours but when I came back, non of my apps were installed.

Why not?

I had them set to back up with Google in Settings for months before I factory-restored earlier today.

Seems I can't put my trust in Google's "Back up my data".

Have you checked that the apps are listed in your Google account? Log in via a browser (on a PC or on your phone) and see if they're all there.

I've had to do two factory resets on my N4 in the last week and both times all my apps, contacts, calendar entries, WiFi settings etc have re-installed automatically. The only difference was I hadn't updated some google apps but the restore installed the latest versions.
