Factory reset protection/24 hour wait/Samsung Galaxy J3 Luna Pro 5

My son owns a Tracfone Samsung Galaxy J3 Luna Pro 5. After electing to reboot this phone to the factory default he needed to enter the account and password information to get past the factory reset protection. Alas he could not recall that. Accordingly, we used an email account that was associated with this phone and created a new password. After entering that new information we were advised that we needed to wait 24 hours because he had created a new password.

Unfortunately, despite waiting 24 hours with the phone charging but otherwise completely shut off, we still cannot get into the phone because we needed to wait 24 hours. We've done this through several 24 hour cycles.

I have read that some phones that used Lollipop required a 72 hour wait period. But the specs for this phone state that it runs on the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system so based on my limited research I don't understand why we are still locked out after waiting 24 hours with no phone activity.

I've looked on Youtube, searched the web and contacted the carrier but so far no luck.

Any suggestions?

THANK YOU!

A factory reset restores your device back to when you first bought it. Any apps you installed after then need to be reinstalled.
HTH and I hope I read your question correctly.

Thanks for your reply.

I guess I failed to ask the correct question.

After the phone was reset we get to this page:

We then enter our email and the new password. Unfortunately, instead of opening the phone we receive a warning that we must wait 24 hours in light of a recent password change.

We've waited the 24 hours, but we still get the warning that we must wait 24 hours. We've gone through several cycles of waiting for 24 hours. But the phone will not open. Instead we get the 24 hour wait notice.

The account we are signing in with has been synced to this phone.

This phone does NOT use Lollipop. Rather it uses Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow so in theory it should open after 24 hours.

Any suggestions? Thanks!
