Root Factory Reset

Lurker
I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy Ace and would like to do a factory reset as I intend to give it to my son. I would like him to have a "fresh new" phone so that he can download apps of his own choice.
I have half a dozen paid for apps that I want him to have. How do I let him have them? Should I do a hard reset? And can you reassure me that it's safe to do a factory reset on a rooted phone (stock rom)?
Many thanks,

You can do a factory reset anytime you want, doesn't matter if its rooted or not. All it does is to return you to the factory settings, it has no effect on root though, so if you want to have a 'fresh new' phone, you might want to unroot it.
You can also flash a fresh samsung firmware if you want, that's as good as factory reset and unrooting.

Don't worry about your apps, as long you use the same google account with which you made the purchase, you can download those apps back without any charges.

Thanks Ayush. I will take your advice on board and do a factory reset knowing that it won't affect the rooting.
cheers,
uf
