Fake Windows Dfender Virus Messages

I've just had a fake Windows Defender message claiming my PC has been infected by the Zeus Virus,from a weird URL, asking for a login and offering an American 'toll free' number. In Linux?
How would most windows users react?

Deceptive popup messages are a really common problem. Teach yourself to just ignore them, clear your browser app's cache, and move on.

I'm surprised it's so dumb: they can usually identify the OS (unless you've taken measures to mess that up).

@Hadron - No, it's just bog standard Mint 18.3. I did have a laugh about it though. If I was in Windows (vanishingly unlikey, but I do still have a Win10 install) I'd still laugh as I don't use (or trust) Windows defender A/V.
