Far out, man

The phone suddenly switched to some kind of blacklight color scheme, or I guess that's what it is. Why would it do this? It looks kind of cool, but it can be a little hard to tell how a picture's supposed to look. How do I switch it back, and is it harmful?

Depends why it happened. Can you post a screenshot? If that looks the same it means it's a software option of some sort (have you checked display or accessibility settings - you've not got the high contrast mode turned on or something?). If the screenshot looks normal that would suggest a hardware problem (normal data being sent from the GPU but the display unit not showing it correctly - a screenshot shows what the phone is trying to display, so hardware problems never show up in screenshots).

Ah, from the accessibility options. I guess there must be some eye condition it helps with, but it's not obvious to me what that might be.

Anyway, good news that it's a false alarm :)

Maybe they're trying to help stoners see things in the only way they can. I guess that makes sense because they're doing everything else for them. I can hardly wait until they legalize meth and heroin.

When you enable it on my phone (G6/Nougat) it says "for people with low vision" whatever that means.

Did they destroy their sight by using too much dope? There's a reason they call it that. I guess there's a down side to everything, even pot.

Actually, cannabinoids are beneficial to vision, specifically in helping reduce eye pressure in glaucoma patients. It's also therapeutic for people suffering from the side effects of chemotherapy.

I did not know that. I had heard or read that it was good for people with cancer or maybe seizures. You can bet it wasn't legalized for that, though...money. It's a funny thing but I guess centuries ago people were growing hemp to make clothing and ropes and things that way. Apparently it didn't become illegal until the twentieth century.

Ain't that a bummer. Why would they not let us do that? All those in favor of allowing trippy color combos to be photographable, say aye.
