fast charge not working -- will factory reset help?

Fast charge has been out for several months. I've tried all the regular steps, but they don't help and my phone is out of warrantee. One suggestion I've read is to backup and do a factory reset.

Before I go through that hassle, I wonder if anyone else has tried that and if it helps?

Um, the software on the phone should not have anything to do with how fast the battery charges.

that is all controlled via hardwired regulator circuits. No software programming in it that you/we/I can do anything about.

It will charge even if the Phone is turned OFF..... so why would you think you need to FDR the phone?

If it don't charge right, get a new OEM battery and start from ground zero with a valid test.

Are you using a good cable, with a 2.1 amp power source?
Old cables do not have a large enough conductor in them to carry 2.1 amps....

On 5.1.1
Settings: Battery: Battery Usage
there is an option for Fast Charging
Check and see if that's selected.

Sorry if that's something you've already done,
