Fast chargers: Electrical "specs"...

rewolff

Newbie
I have another phone, which I want to "fast charge". The thing is, motorola is of no help. (Are you using a motorola charger? No the phone ships without charger.)

I found on the internet that android phones switch to "Charging (AC)" by detecting the two USB datapins connected together. This results in my phone charging "AC", but still at only 0.45A. Way less than what's possible.

A friend has a Galaxy S3, and he has an app (which doesn't work on my phone) that can show if high current charging is permitted and to what maximum.

My hypothesis is that when the USB datapins are connected together AND at the right voltage, the phone will detect that as an AC charger that allows a higher current.

I was hoping that one of you S3-guys (or gals)
* Has a "fast-charge" adapter (verified to do > 0.5A with some charging-monitoring app). (e.g. this one)
* Has enough electronics knowledge to measure the voltage on the USB-D+ and USB-D- pins of that adapter for me.
