Root Fastboot Not recognized

ADB is recognized but Fastboot is not from PC via usb cable. I can reboot Nexus 7 into fastboot mode but thats it. I'm quite sure something is wrong with drivers but don't know how to remedy the situation. Do i really need fastboot anyway?

It does sound like a driver issue as you expect. If you run Wugs Toolkit, linked here, that has detailed instructions and the drivers you need.

Let me know if that works.

Thanks for the suggestion. I downloaded the latest version of twrp and that fixed it.
