Faulty translation of Emojis?

Hi,

Small point but could matter in some circumstances. I recently exchanged messages with my son, who has an iPhone. In one exchange I used a thumbs-up emoji from the standard options on my A5 (can't find the equivalent on here). I found his reply confusing until he explained that what I'd sent as a Thumbs-up, he'd received as two question marks.

As already mentioned, not a major problem in the context of the message sent, but could be important in other circumstances. Any idea what went wrong?

Thanks,

Ian
