I just bought a Nexus 6 running Lollipop. I put 3 gmail account and 1 yahoo account into the gmail app, as the regular email app redirected to gmail. I would like my email from all three accounts to be fetched, rather than pushed. I do not see an option to do this. The closest I get is unchecking 'Sync' from the options of each account. This does allow me to manually fetch each account, but it has two drawbacks. First, it is only manual; I cannot set it to fetch every hour or 4 hours, etc. Second, any change made to the emails (like archiving) doesn't automatically happen on the server; I have to manually refresh the account again after I'm finished archiving to get the gmail server to acknowledge the actions.

Is there a setting somewhere that would allow me to fetch? Or do I need to procure a 3rd party app?

Thanks!

I don't think the configuration options you want are available in the Gmail app, which is now the default standard email client. You will need something else.

AquaMail is my favorite and has switchable push and plenty of scheduling options. Probably some of the other popular clients do too such as Maildroid, Type Mail, K-9 etc etc but I can't say offhand which ones, you'll have to check them out or maybe someone will chime in that knows.

Hi

I think you can set it up how you want it by logging into your main gmail account on a PC (in gmail) and selecting settings there. There are many more options than in the android app. Fetch settings made there are carried over to every device with the same gmail account.

If no good, then yes to aquamail ^^
