Anyone know of a sound utility(application) for the g1? (1)i would like to have the option to have sounds (like palm phones) when i use the keyboard or different sounds for when i tap on the screen? (2) has anyone thought about making an application that rotates our wallpaper in our saved wallpaper pictures sort of like on a mac? (3) anyway to make the phone have more haptic (response in settings or apps maybe?) (4) i know this last questions doesn't go here but when do i get my update on the phone i still have firmware version 1.0?! Thanks in advance.

Doesn't appear there's anything to give keyboard tones, but there is one for touch screen movement or trackball movement. The only exception is if you use the return key to activate something on the screen

There might be one on the market, I'm not sure. If there isn't, there probably will be. I have locale changing my background based on whether I'm at home, at an appointment, or if it's "bedtime". Not random, but the visual change is nice.

Some apps make use of this, Chomp SMS has a virtual keyboard that makes a slight vibration that is also audible. There isn't a setting for the OS, however. Perhaps the cupcake team is working on it.

Other than looking for a hack website, you'll have to wait. The updates are sent out OTA (over the air) by your carrier at random, so it arrives whenever it arrives. The firmware isn't as important as your build number, which one is that? If you're in the UK, it seems to be that your updates are about 6 months behind the US. No idea why.

You can do a manual update, search this forum, there's oodles of instructions.

There's a more natural way to nudge your phone to do the update.

1 - Install "Any Cut" from the marketplace.
2 - from your home screen, long press anywhere on the background.
3 - This will bring up the "Add To Home" Menu
4 - Select Shortcut
5 - Select Any Cut
6 - In Any Cut, select Activity
7 - In Activity, select Device Info
8 - Tap the OK button
9 - Find and tap the Device Info shortcut on your home screen.
10 - Should bring up a list of device information, scroll to the bottom
11 - with the text box blank, tap the check for upgrade button.
12 - If there's an upgrade available, it will start downloading, if there isn't, keep trying.

I did this twice a day for a couple days before I actually got the upgrade. The phone should already be looking for an upgrade, this is just a way to get it to look manually. I got a few "Checkin Failed" notices with a bunch of code, but mostly I got "CheckinSuccess" until it actually found the update. I don't remember what the message was, but I remember it showing the progress of the download numerically.
