Help Few questions regarding upgrading to Gingerbread

Brizzler

Lurker
Hi,

UK user on Vodafone and I'm going to upgrade to Gingerbread from Froyo.

1) Is it better to flash the ROM rather than use Kies (which is offering PDA:KPE Phone:KP6)?

2)If so, which ROM on this page

Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace Firmwares..

S5830XWKPKN?
I'm assuming 2.3.3 is more stable than 2.3.4 but I don't know why!

3) Will I have to the manually enter the APNs (ie note them down 1st) or is that taken care of somehow?

4) I've backed up contacts to the SIM and SD card, is that enough? I've had trouble with gmail and ended up with double contacts.

Thanks in advance

If you flash the rom you need to back everything up as it wipes the slate clean. You have a legit update on kies from Vodaphone so I'd go with the Kies option. Plus this way nothing gets wiped off.
