File structure confusion

Hi all,

I've been exploring the file structure on my GoTab via ES File Explorer and via a USB cable to my pc. I'm confused about where one fits with the other. If I use ES File Manager, the root has the following folders under it:
acct, cache, config, d, data, dev, etc, mnt, proc, res, root, sbin, sdcard, sys, system, vendor.

However, if I connect the tablet to my pc and open it like a flash drive, I see the following folders: .android_secure, Alarms, Android, DCIM, Download, DVR, hive, LOST.DIR, Movies, Music, Notifications, Pictures, Podcasts, Ringtones

My confusion is that I can't find the folders which show up on the PC when I look for them on the tablet. The tablet doesn't have an external sd card so everything must be in the internal memory, but where?

E.g. When I search through folders on the PC I can see videos I downloaded in the Downloads folder. However, when I search using ES File Explorer it returns nothing found. Browsing through folders hasn't found me anything either". Why can't ES File Explorer find these files?

All help appreciated,

Thanks.

Thanks Crashdamage,

I think my problem was that I was trying to view the sdcard directory when it was connected to the pc. That meant I was just seeing "sdcard unmounted". Disconnected from the pc and folder and contents were immediately visible.

Sorry for the confusion.

Regards.

By default, when connected to PC, pre-4.0.4 devices unmounted your SDCard, Newer ones don't have to, I've noticed.

EDIT: I could be wrong about the cut-off poitn, but it is something many newer devices don't have to do. It could be device/kernel-level, not Android version, though
