File transfer doesn’t work after yesterday's system update

Yesterday's system update seems to have screwed up my ability to transfer files via USB cable to my PC. I have never had this trouble until yesterday. Here’s what happens. I select the DCIM folder on the phone and then the Camera folder, where my pictures are stored. When I select them all, copy and then try to paste them in a folder on the PC, I get a red error box that says critical error, Not able to copy files. Then a weird thing happens. It seems to make the Camera folder on the phone disappear. I can’t see any of my pictures. I freaked out until I restarted the phone and my camera folder reappeared and my pictures as well. However, when I tried copying and pasting them on the PC, the same thing happened. If I then took a photo with the phone, the Camera folder reappeared, but disappeared again whenever I tried transferring files. What the heck is going on? I hope someone can help!

Actually, I tried a different USB cable and it worked. My old cable works fine to charge the phone, though, so I don’t understand it.

Some cables (like the kind bought in a gas station) may not have full USB capabilities since it was only produced with 2 wires for charging instead of the normal/expected 4 or 5 wires.. I did also learn that some of the newer operating systems make it extremely difficult to transfer files or even more than one at a time, from the device.. Gotta love encryption..
