Files showing up as empty folders on PC

Hi, when I connect my phone to my PC, all the files on my phone happened to show up as empty folders, say work.pdf file will show up as a folder named work.pdf on my PC, however my pictures music and mp4s aren't affected. If I open file commander on my phone I can read those files just fine, I need help because I cannot move any files out onto my PC, thanks!

When connected pull down your notification bar, make sure it's set to file transfer. Secondly do you get a pop up on your phone asking to allow permission?

Yea, it's under MTP mode, and nope I don't get that popup, it's quiet an old phone I don't remember having this issue previously

Only other thing I can think of is to try a different usb cable then.

I tried that as well same result unfortunately
