Help Finally got my S3, but...

...I noticed that when I browse my contacts via selecting recipients for a text message there are a bunch of contacts that are not visible in the actual Contacts page of the phone. I was wondering if someone could tell me how to view these so I may edit/delete them.

I've already tried going into the Contacts page and enabling the views for all my accounts, but some are still not showing.

You could probably unsync the accounts in the settings in the contacts app. This is probably what is causing all these other contacts to show up.

Well I tried unsyncing my Samsung account, but the contacts are still showing up in the Text Message Recipient list. The only other accounts I have linked are Facebook and GMail, but I know for a fact that every contact in both of those are complete with names, addresses, and numbers.

I wonder if maybe they are addresses collected from random inbox emails from other people/companies I don't have added?

There is a setting in the actual gmail PC app that automatically adds people you email to your contacts. I had mine set to do that and all those email addresses showed as contacts on my S3. I switched it to let me add them myself I want to and it fixed that for me.

Well I found that option and turned it off, but now how can I delete those that are already in my phone? It's annoying to see a bunch of 'Unknown' contacts when browsing my Contacts list through the text message browser.

If I recall, you have to delete them from the PC gmail and then they will go away

Heh, I wish I could find them. When I'm in Contacts on the PC it only shows those that I've added, myself. I'll see if I cant do any more digging to find these 'Unknown' contacts.

Thanks for the help! :)

Figured it out...

From GMail > Contacts on the PC, on the left side with the 'Circles' if you mouse over it you will see an option "Recently Contacted" or "Most Contacted." Select that and all the email addresses you've received from and/or sent to will be visible here. Deleting them will also delete them from the searchable Contact list when browsing from Text Messaging.
