Root [FinallyxD] How to root zte zmax pro z981

Hello
Finally and after a year and half I'm glad to announce that root is now possible for zte zmax pro z981 :D

Requirements:
-uni-androidtool:
https://www.uni-androidtool.com
-My twrp port:

-Magisk:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445

How to root:
1- You will need to purchase a subscription in
https://www.uni-androidtool.com
2- enable usb debugging on phone and then open uni-androidtool and log in
3- reboot into edl mode
4- first make sure to backup stock rom
5- replace the recovery.img in the backup folder by the twrp image from my thread
6- choose the flash option then select recovery partition
7- after flashing keep pressing the volume up button during reboot to boot into twrp (very important or twrp will be replaced by stock recovery)
8- allow modification from inside twrp then press cancel
9- flash magisk.zip from sdcard
10- reboot into system and install the magisk manager app
11- You now have permanent root access :D

Congrats. Knew it would happen maybe max pro will be my daily driver again. Custom ROM is desperately needed. Time to post on xda. Take it away.

So it's fine to post unitool 50$ subscription links but not my paypal optional [donational] link that I'm not forcing anyone to donate through, how funny you are, deleted my whole post then :p , on all custom roms development projects, twrp and root topics over xda you are allowed to collect donations for all the time you spend.. here is an example from my account at xda

Bro, i think you are doing wrong. I contacted him using his paypal account, and he helped me freely.
I asked him to use a paid software becouse is the only way to write the TWRP file.
Anyone here is willing to pay, but everyone can get donation from its work.

For the record, I have no problem with people getting the glory for their achievements. But given that money is involved, and the fact that we have no independent verification that this method actually works, plus I've been following this member's contributions in the other thread, and was very much unimpressed with the contribution, attitude towards others, and display of technical knowledge, I removed the donations link.

Initial post with full instructions restored after member deleted them. If someone can confirm that this actually works, I'm happy to reinstate the member's link for donations.

Others you are talking about are sapphire and the others :) who been claiming that they found root...methods...etc then they disappeared for not finding something to say for the community after all their promises and useless talk :D i left their discord group coz of the disrespect they show to me even after all my help for them, my xda contributions history talks about me and my contributions to different devices, i got a contact on my email from a member here who said that he was able to flash twrp using app i posted earlier but he still not able to root it, i asked him to send picture for twrp running on their device which he did and there i started helping him to find a way to obtain root (my help was 100% free) the only reason i posted my guide here and not in xda is that here where everything started.. i found a way and wanted to share it with the community and put my paypal donation link as regular as we usually do on every thread on xda, i didn't say you must donate to have access to my recovery it was open to all :cool: no wonder android forums are going back fast coz of moderators like you..
 
1. It's Messi. He's helped break more than one budget device everyone else ignored.
2. He didn't ask for money. Only method found to work was by using a third party program that cost money not his own program.
3. Messi never asked for a dime. Just a quiet link for donations for his time. Never a requirement.
4. You will notice that the twrp was created and distributed for free.
 
And unless you break every written and unwritten rule protecting a creators rights it can't be tested unless you can restore the twrp he took down. Such would be bad if you tried.
