Fingerprint Hardware Not Working, Vodafone Smart Platinum 7

My Fingerprint sensor isnt working and the error message is hardware not available, one of the methods I tried to fix it included deleting my current fingerprint saved on, and now when I try to assign a new fingerprint it says enrollment not available.

Sounds like the fingerprint scanner hardware has died, and repair is required. Is the phone still under warranty?

No it ran out a few months ago
