Fingerprint Security HACKED!

.. and it wasn't too hard to do either

If you have banking apps or PayPal on your phone, you may want to think twice about relying on a fingerprint. To add insult to injury, Sammy dropped another security ball by allowing thieves an infinite number of attempts to break it.

I know many Smartphone users don't rely on such Fingerprint Technology. They use their brain rather than expected hack stuff

Wasn't too hard -- in a lab. Where they're trying to make it happen.

You would have to leave a nice, unmolested full print on your screen. When would this happen? How much more than your fingertips ever touch the screen?

It would be easier to get a full print off of the fingerprint sensor on the iPhone than the swipe sensor of the S5.

This was done by a lab that's set up to do such things. Unless a lab employee stole your phone, you're pretty safe.

And of course everyone has a ready-made PCB mold lying around to duplicate said fingerprint.....

This is the same as when the face unlock feature was added. When they made it so you had to blink it could be defeated with a good video, but how many thieves have a ready made video of someone lying around?

Agreed. I've seen this hyped up all over the news. It seems like a remote possibility of actually ever happening to your regular S5 user. Like everyone mentioned, you'd need a pristine finger print and then the equipment to make a finger mold. Your credit card number is much more likely to be stolen by a crooked waiter / waitress than by your S5 fingerprint scanner.

I'm not storing state secrets on my phone and don't expect Catwoman to stealing my phone for my meager earnings either.

Much ado about nothing.
