Fingerprint unlocking not working.

I wonder if anyone can help with a problem I am having. Whenever I try to unlock my phone using my fingerprint I get the message "Enter PIN instead of using fingerprint recognition because of security policy" and I have to enter my pin. Driving me nuts.

Well what have you changed on the phone? Are you using a lockscreen app? Are you using something else to lockscreen not the power button?

I have only just set up fingerprint for the first time. I was using a lock screen app. If I don't use the app then fingerprint works fine. Annoying. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Yeah I used a lockscreen app on my previous phone, but it didn't work right on my S7E. Had to unlock twice. But I love the fingerprint so much I just uninstalled the other app

Have you tried re-registering your fingerprint? Could be that the phone is no longer recognizing the existing stored one.
If one has to re-register (I've had to three times now), how can that prove to be a reliable security feature?

It just means that it only recorded certain aspects of your finger. We do hold it in varying angles. It's secure though, because that means it's difficult to get in.

Yeah I'm having similar problems on my S7. POS is making me wait 30 minutes between tries now- it won't even let me enter my damn pin. The guy who set it up last week for me only had me register one thumbprint. Now I have to wait 30 minutes between tries because it just won't recognize my thumbprint. I can only guess that it is because I spent the morning diving in freezing water and my skin on my thumb is a little jacked up and dried out. IDK, but I hate this thing. If I ever get in the POS, I'm going to disable the fingerprint unlock.
