Help Fire TV HDMI to VGA adapter

My TV doesn't have a HDMI input, so was hoping to find out what adapter I could use. I have a 42 inch Panasonic Viera plasma TV, it's an old one but is still working perfect so am reluctant to let it go. Can anyone help?

I bought this Tendak HDMI to RCA adapter for a little over twenty bucks

http://www.amazon.com/Tendak-Composite-Converter-Adapter-Supporting/dp/B00KBQZC4M

Works fine connecting my old symphonic TV (with rca input jacks) to either chromecast or MWDA miracast.

But I couldn't get it to work with either adapter when connected to another old tv.....My old rca tv with rca input jacks. (In my other thread I discussed rca tv, that was a mistake...was really talking about my symphonic)

So my results..batting 50%. That's pretty typical I think....lots of mixed result reported for all the hdmi to rca adapters I looked at. Twenty bucks to try isn't much to gamble though.
